Every few months we learn of the departure of yet another beloved personage, yet another parent, grandparent and great grandparent.
Those were the days - the glory days - when the University of Ibadan was a shining beacon of excellence, drawing scholars and administrators of the highest caliber from near and far. Mama Jarrett’s service as an excellent administrator dating back to the mid sixties was crowned by her admirable retirement as a chief administrative officer.
It was because of that service that Mama Jarrett’s children attended the Staff School of the University, the cradle of precious friendships formed more than a half century ago, that endure till today.
The testimonies here and from the lips of her loved ones speak of a loving, disciplined, kind and determined matriarch. A virtuous woman who raised and shaped her family to trust in God. Her legacy shines through the lives of her children and grandchildren, biological and fostered.
The Olu Longe family extend warm and sincere condolences to the Jarrett family. To my staff school friend Velantia, the first born, I extend my personal sympathies.
May the entire family know the presence and comfort of the Lord God Almighty at this time, and may Mama Jarrett’s soul rest in peace, Amen.
Always disheartening everytime we hear of the demise of a wonderful person, but God knows better.
Mama, it was with a heavy heart that we received the news of your departure and it was so devastating.
Mama Jarrett, knowing you was a great opportunity, because you cannot be compared to nothing but a God sent angel. You were so peaceful a person, very accommodating and exhibited high level understanding of human coexistence.
Truly you were a Godly woman and you will be greatly missed. Sleep on dear one right in the bossom of the Almighty God.
To the entire Jarrett's family she left behind, please take heart and may God Almighty continue to be with you all. Amen.
Adiue from Mr Goerge Onyemachi and family
