In Tributes From Family
We honor the life of a remarkable woman, Mrs Admire Lucretia Jarrett who was more than just a mother-in-law to me; she was a beacon of love, wisdom, Unity and strength in our family.
From the moment I joined this family, she welcomed me with open arms and an open heart. Her warmth, her kindness, and her unwavering support made me feel like one of her own. She had a way of making everyone around her feel valued and loved, a rare gift that she shared freely and generously. I can’t forget her stew! From the very first day my husband brought me to the house and introduced me to her she cooked one stew like this and dished one plate for my husband and I. I was like - ‘are we to eat from the same plate?’ She had joined us from the very first day!Â
Grandma J was a woman of great character. She carried herself with grace and dignity, even in the most challenging of times. Her resilience was inspiring, and her love for her family was boundless.Â
I remember when I had my first child Banky, you decided to help ‘my ministry’(smiles) by performing a tummy hot water massage on me! What a privilege. I don’t think any of the other wives subsequently enjoyed this treatment.Â
Her home was a place of comfort and joy, a place where laughter echoed through the walls, where traditions were upheld with pride, and where love was the cornerstone of everything. She created a legacy of love that will continue to guide us in the years to come.
I am grateful for every moment we shared, for the lessons she imparted, and for the love she gave so freely. She was a mother to me in every sense of the word, and her memory will forever be cherished in my heart.
When we took that picture the last time I visited Nigeria, little did I know that was the last time I would see you alive! I am glad I was able to see you then. I will cherish that moment forever.
Though she is no longer with us in body, We will carry her love, her wisdom, and her strength with us every day. We will honor her by living the values she instilled in us and by loving each other as she loved us. She brought her children and grandchildren together, always all about unity.Â
Rest in peace. You were truly one of a kind, and you will be deeply missed. But your legacy lives on in each of us, and we will hold you in our hearts always.
Love from
Dr Tokunbo Jarrett .(daughter-in -law)
