Mrs Jarrett did not know me personally. She didn't officially allocate her boys quarters to me, I just kind of found my way there and moved in courtesy of my friendship with her son Ravon Jarrett. It was my final of many years in the university and I needed a serene place to plot my way out of UI. Mummy Jarrett gave the BQ room to Kunle Sikuade (Siku) but I and much later the late Omimi Otite moved in too to Siku's eternal chagrin. They reported me to her for every real and imagined offense but she didn't chase me away. She must have thought in her kind heart "this is somebody's son in need of help". Like Ravon will say "we not only commandeered her BQ, we commandeered her cooking pot too" Ravon knowing there were hungry boys in the BQ was the master mind of the kitchen heist. It is on record in my life's history that it was while living in Mummy Jarrett’s BQ on Amina Way through the kindness of her and her son that I eventually got my degree and graduated from UI. Let me also speak of Ravon Jarrett my friend and brother. Ravon is a simple easy going guy, unlike most Ibadan boys of my generation who a lot of them spend time and energy in eternal and unnecessary competition with each other, Ravon is a sweet simple soul without a drop of guile or envy in his heart. He always wishes everyone well and is never involved in any of the usual "them say". That room as I said had Siku and Omimi, then a bunch of "visiting professors" like Femi Babalola (Bablo my birthday mate and one of my loveliest Ibadan brothers), Dr. Femi Jaiyesimi (FJ)...we even had a "visiting professor" from University of Ife in one of my favorite sisters Yewande Alabi who you all know as Wendy Wen or "Iya Ibadan" (Wendy na there we first meet). Anyway may God grant Mummy Jarrett eternal rest and Ravon, his older brother Elvon and the entire Jarrett family the strength to bear the loss.
